This little article will be about The New Age of dueling that's coming with the new ban list.
For those who haven't seen the new ban list take a look: http://www.yugioh-card.com/en/limited/.

The New Meta

  • War Gods (OCG name- Bujin) -

This is what they were made for. Konami had this vision for them. Thats finally coming true. They have all the support they need to completely domainate.

  • Burning Knucklers (OCG name- Battlin' Boxers)-

This deck most forgot to consider. Though there powerful xyz known as Battlin' Boxer Lead Yoke. They have all support they need and since this deck is backrow heavy its sure to thrive with heavy storm out the picture

  • Infernity-

Must i say it again. Backrow heavy decks are really going to thrive this season. What better way to express that than to see Infernity come back to life as tier 1.

  • Hieratics-

This deck is too good at times. Its quick fast and doesnt need backrow protection much. Thoguh with the main staple backrow cards hit such as compulsory evac device and prison. There sure to dominate.

  • Maldoche-

This deck is pretty much slipped under the radar but many don't realize how very good Maldoche are. There one of the faster of the new meta series. They have all the tools they need to survive as top meta.

  • Inzektors-

Most have completely forgotten about this deck. Now that heavy is gone the only thing u have to save you are precious MST. That is still no where near enough to top the speed and power of inzektors.

  • Constellar-

Well lets be honest backrow was nothing to Constellar. As much as this deck loves to bounce cards there is no honest card that really stop Constellar. This couldn't be ignored.

Honorable Mentions

  • Blackwings-

Its understandable how you would seriously think this is meta but lets be honest. Blackwings had there time and now even with whirlwind at 3 they still wont be tier 1 Whirlwind being tier 1 still doesn't mean its enough to make it top tier.

  • Dark Wolds-

Even I'm surprised at this idea i bet huh. Cause even of with macro and soul banned to them its just not enough to be meta. Well they also banned destruction. Even with my extensive experimentation that's not enough.

  • Fire Kings

To be honest they almost are tier 1. If they had just a tad more support. No doubt it would be top tier.

  • Prophecy

Prophecy will also still be a top deck. They were a strong control build before judgment day, and they will remain a strong control deck without it. For aggro prophecy users, expect to see reaper of prophecy builds that go into Norito, the Great Moral Leader, every bit as capable of controlling the game as Shi En, but 500 points stronger.
- cagethedarkmaster

To be honest couldn't have said it better myself. Though they will still be top because of there reduction of speed in prophecy to have idea of it being tier 2. Though I havent ruled it out from possible tier 1 Razz

All these decks in the "Honrable Mentions" are possible tier 1. They all have the great possibility to be top tier. Though no doubt these decks will mainly dominate the new era of the game.

Tips for The New Era

This meta most of our staples have been banned. We will have to eventually find out what to replace Monster Reborn or Heavy Storm. Those 2 cards will be missed. Though in the meantime focus on the new stuff.
Most of this ban list is to stop pulling back rows so suddenly. With heavy storm gone people can use a lot monsters and such to make better. Side for a lot of back row because they definetly will be successful.

Conclusion

Overall Konami built a nice banlist. Nothin that is unplayable or any manner. Though with all the staples gone its time to truly see who its good and pro and who is not good at all. This banlist will separate the strong from the weak.

Which side are u on?

At first glance at the list i thought dragons were dead, but in time i concluded dragons will always stay on top of the meta.

with black whirlwind at 3, there exists new possibilities for blackwings. They possess an easy search tuner called breeze the zephyr, and their usual tactics are further enabled. They exceed, they slice, they dice, and they control teh backrows. they control the front row with pure, raw force, and they also have easy access to vulcan, as well as synergy with the soon-to-be top tech of the format; anti-spell fragrance.

Harpies have the same general strengths that blackwings do, with an added bonus of easier rank 7 tricks. They're capable of all of the field control plays blackwings are, with the added bonus of being able to abuse lightning chidori multiple times per turn. Needless to say, I feel you need to re-look at the potential of this deck as a top contender.

Breakthrough Skill is still a thing, so don't count too heavily on any one effect to win you games (except for freaking Evilswarm Ophion, expect him to be even stronger this format)

Evilswarms will still be a strong deck, nothing got hit for them.

Darkworlds lost card destruction, but they are STILL as strong without it. They weren't top tier because of the speed of dragons and the other top tier decks, being able to get around the grapha issue. We'll see how well they adapt to the new format as it wears on. I predict they'll shine at tier 1.

This banlist is interesting, and making all very existed about their decks and the 'new way' of building them.

About the future Meta, I won't comment, nothing is for sure. Only time will show :p

As usual cage you are particularly correct.
(in my defense it was 4 in the morning i was tired and didn't completely finish Razz)

You are very right when it comes to spellbooks being a top deck.

Verz in my opinion though in this new age of meta will all by the wayside. Yes they are still a strong deck but just not strong enough to be a top deck. Even though they have pandemic i believe the heavy backrow decks will be able to take over such things.

Blackwings do have zephyr but i still don't believe its enough to make top tier this season with how much the game has evolved since there being tier 1. Though 1 thing is for sure i havent completely ruled it out.

Harpies i haven't considered because of their proneness to back row. Even with thier field spell there not able to stop and counter all the other spells/traps we might use to kill them. Harpies in my mind will stay a solid tier 2.

As for Darkworlds. You were right again in the phrase of "dragon rulers and books were just purely too fast to have darkworld be tier 1". I have never though in this ruled out the actual possibility of this happening this year. I just don't believe they will be able to adapt as well with card destruction gone.

Just to get something down quickly here...

Bujin will not be top tier in the TCG without something more than Yamato as a Beast-Warrior. The Tenki hit actually hurts Bujin more than it does other Tenki-reliant decks for this reason; also, there's a significant amount of backrow that cause them problems, especially in the Side Deck. Good deck, yes; top tier, no.

Dragon Ruler variants are still going to be quite competitive, particularly Plants, Skill Drain, and Mermail variants. Spellbooks will also still be solid...World is a very real thing, and there's still enough diversity here to make them work quite well.

I'll give more thoughts on the direction of the format at a later time, but it's still very open.

yea bujin did get slightly hit and they do have a beast warrior besides yamato

spellbooks i clearly stated in the article as still top contenders

and no one has forgotten about the ever so annoying dragon rulers. sure there little drags are banned and slowed but they wont be tier 1 this season. they got slowed too much

mermail got hit as well with diva and dragoons limited but they still will be solid tier 2

and for skill drain builds y not try good old tg stun
that will definetly be affective this season

Mikazuchi is not TCG-legal yet; my comment was TCG-specific.

Spellbooks you largely added on with cage's comments.

Dragon Rulers are not so slow that they cannot compete...Sacred Sword is a card after all, and there are lots of ways to play them. Trust me when I say the deck in some way, shape, or form will be a factor.

Mermails themselves will be okay, but I was referring more to the Dragon Ruler/Mermail hybrid deck that is now also a thing.

As for Skill Drain, Dragons can utilize it just as well as TG, although I do feel TG will be solid as well.
